1492 - CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS wrote in his diary that the Indians were drying and smoking a plant called "tobaga". It is believed to be the first reference to TOBACCO.


1806 - Explorer ZEBULON PIKE came upon the Colorado Mountains. They later named one of them after him, PIKE'S PEAK.




1969 - JANIS JOPLIN was arrested in Tampa, Florida, on charges of using "vulgar and indecent language" at a concert. It started when a police officer on a bullhorn instructed the audience to sit down.

1980 - KENNY ROGERS had his first #1 hit "LADY," written by LIONEL RICHIE.


1990- MILLI VANILLI producer Frank Farian publicly admitted that FABRICE MORVAN and ROB PILATUS never sang a note on the Milli Vanilli album.
